World Series Final Game Attracts 51M Audience Members In the United States, Canada and Japanese Markets.

The nail-biting extended clash where the Dodgers overcome the Blue Jays by one run attracted a combined over 50 million spectators in the United States, Canada, and Japan territories. Major League Baseball stated this represents the most-watched World Series Game 7 after the 1991 contest between the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Details

The Saturday epic game averaged 27.33 million audience members on Fox channels, Fox Deportes and their streaming platforms. Per Nielsen, it was the second most-watched program of the week.

It additionally stands as the most-watched World Series game after the 2017 edition final game between the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew 29.07M. This marks a 16% improvement compared to the previous finale featuring the Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million viewers.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game ranked 4th, Game 4 ranked 7th, the fifth game was 8th, and Game 3 finished in 13th place.

International Viewership Figures

In Canada, the climactic game recorded over 11 million viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports. This made it the highest-rated English-language broadcast in Canada after the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding game started at 9 p.m. local time, it attracted 12 million. This came after the previous Friday’s sixth game – in which Fall Classic MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up a single run in six frames – averaged 13.1M spectators, making it the most-watched Fall Classic game on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Series Totals and Patterns

The entire seven-game series averaged over 15.7 million audience members on the Fox network, a 2% increase from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This marks the initial instance after 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has seen audience growth for two consecutive seasons.

Including the opening game broadcast on Univision, the total US viewership reached over 16 million. The total World Series average in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1M in the Canadian market.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 recorded 8.09 million viewers, an 8% increase over last year and the network’s best playoff ratings since 2017.

Major League Baseball reported that the World Series was broadcast in over 200 countries and territories by 44 media partners in sixteen different languages.
